Only if you will only use it for childminding. I'm guessing you would still buy it if you weren't minding so you cant claim it.
Hi you couldnt claim the cost of the phone, but you can claim any calls or text messages that you make to the parents.
Hope helps

Hmmmm interesting question.
The statutory framework (guidance) says -
Providers should take essential records and equipment on outings, for example, contact telephone numbers for the parents of children on the outing, first aid kit, a mobile phone.
So, according to Ofsted you should have a mobile phone to take on outings... if you should have one then I would say that you have a strong case for putting a percentage (not the full amount because it's a personal purchase) of the cost through your books.
I would be tempted to follow the general percentages here depending on how much you work...

I put mine through the books (cost of phone and calls) because I can honestly say that if I wasn't minding I wouldn't have a mobile. I hate them and 90% of it's use is minding related. Oh and I only put approx £20 per year top up on it.
In cloud cuckoo land somewhere
i have 2 mobiles one for minding and personal as i dont give out my personal number-- and i know i can switch mindee phone off ...
Donna
I have a contract and claim all (£20.00 per month) but do not claim anything on the home bill.
Debbie
Thanks Debbie, will put my contract cost in my accounts from now on. I do only use my mobile for work. Am looking for help in getting my income down and this forum has helped with allowable expenses.
you can claim it if you only use it for minding hun same as calls/txt charges to parents
but if was personal use and used for minding too them i guess only part can be claimed x
To Dare Is To Do
I never go over my monthly tariff on calls or texts and claim half my monthly contract for my mobile phone (but don't claim on the land line). I checked my bill over a three month period and it did work out that I used it about 50% of the time for work related issues.
Excellent, I will claim half of my contract phone too!!!
Karen x mum to 2 , Step Mum to one and Wife to one!!
at the minute I dont claim anything
I work for vm too and have a staff package on both landline and mobile. but once I leave I will be having a seperate buisiness mobile which I will put it all through
boo
i use both my mobile and house phone for minding and dont claim anything for either of them right now as i soooo cant be bothered to sit and work out which text or call was for minding and which was personal!! i know i should as im losing money but goodness i only pay 15 a month for mobile and barely anything for the house phone
