Fridge freezer / catering
Wierd one - I've started catering for the little ones and after-school children and as such I'm menu planning, buying in bulk each week, cooking in bulk and have had to buy a bigger fridge freezer. The fridge for all the fresh, healthy food I'm providing (as opposed to the cr*p I normally give my own kids!) And the freezer for when I do big batches.
Obviously this is for some personal use too so I'm thinking can't write off cost as a business expense but could I justify a percentage of it as business cost?
Or if someone could point me in the direction of where I could find out
Many thanks, bluebell

I've realised I probably should have known the answer to this one!
Because I claim the 10% of my income toward wear and tear of houseold items I can not also claim a specific cost (or percentage of) toward individual items ......
A deduction of 10% of total childminding income may be made to cover the wear and tear of furniture and household items. This is intended to include household items which are not used wholly and exclusively in childminding. A childminder claiming this deduction may not, however, claim relief for the cost of replacing such household items. Reasonable costs of cleaning household items where the need for cleaning is as a result of childminding activities may be allowed as a separate item

the 10% wear and tear is for used items ... anything new you can claim.
If it's solely for the business then claim it all - if it's shared with home claim a reasonable percentage.
be ready to justify what you have claimed if you are ever audited
