    Default Car expenses

    Hi.
There was a thread years ago, but just wondered if anyone had any up to date advice on how to put car insurance, or the car in general, through as an expense. I've just set up and have bought and am in the process of insuring my 7 seater.
Can the insurance be put through as an expense or is the 45p per mile you can claim a better way of doing it?

    Thanks

You claim either 45p a mile OR a percentage of car costs and bills.

most childminders use 45p a mile because it's easier.

An accountant will be able to help you if you want to use the other method and capital depreciation

Thank you Sarah. I can see why 45p per mile is easier!
