    Default flooring

once i come off maternity leave and go back to childminding, I am thinking of changing the type of flooring in the playroom. Having carpets is lovely but not practical for childminding really. If i change the type of flooring (for example to laminate), can i put this down as an expense?

I thought you could claim like for like but this would be wear and tear. I would advise asking an accountant if you have one or contacting the hmrc.

When I built my conservatory and asked hmrc about putting the cost of laminate flooring through they said no as you would need flooring even if you were not minding.
Changing flooring came under wear and tear she said and I couldn't claim that way either.
