Weekly Expenditure

Hi All, Hope you can help been doing my weekly expenditures this weekend, but the NCMA Accounts book dose not have enough room for all the items I've bought to start minding, entering start up costs and items listed with receipts, theres not enough space, I spoke to my cousins wife who is an accountant and she said it would be better doing it on a spreadsheet, I've only Microsoft Works on my computer tried doing a spreadsheet this evening start 8pm finished at 10pm when I came to print it off it will only print half of the spreadsheet and not other rows I added on Gave it up as a bad job, has anyone got any were I can download any examples of expenditure spreadsheets, someone told me Excel spreadsheets are easy to work with please help

I dislike Works with an intensity I save just for Works... so I know what you mean!

If you don't have Excel, you can get Open Office free (it's open source) and very similar to Excel...

Alternatively, you can get a free copy of Word and Excel from the Microsoft website for 60 day free trial...

Then you will need to find a widget on the internet that removes the trial period so you can download it again if you are enjoying using it...

Oh... forgot to say... where does it say you have to put all your expenses in one month's worth of the column...? If they don't fit, simply carry them over to the next month!!!! So long as you can justify the spending, it makes no difference where the numbers are in the book

Thanks Sarah I didn't know I could carry them over, my cousins wife didn't tell me that she said she will come and have a look at the spreadsheet once I had done it.

You're welcome... just to say, I've been minding 14+ years and I've never felt the need to learn how to do a spreadsheet! Although, if you've got Excel, I believe Lisa's accounts package is very well thought of by people who use it...

I just do my figures on A4 paper - incomings and outgoings every month - I am very much of the 'keep it simple' school of thought! Why make like more complicated?? So long as it all adds up in the end... and that can be a challenge

Oooo and while I remember, if you're keeping any kind of records on a computer, you're not allowed to put anything that could potentially lead anyone to know who the customer is, unless you've done something with the data protection act - and I wouldn't go there if I were you!
