    Default food/drink receipts

    I used to keep all food receipts and claimed a percentage, that become all to difficult so now i claim a set amount per child per meal/snack

    Do i have to keep food receipts? Hope not as i havent been for over 2 yrs

    I thought we had to keep food receipts not for expenses purposes but in case of food poisoning etc where we might need to trace the origin of something. Am I right, anyone? And then you only need to keep receipt for a short time, until food is eaten and no problems!

    Yes you have to keep them as per FSA regulations - I keep mine a couple of years because tinned food has a long shelf life!

    If you are working out a "per meal" cost then you need to keep the receipt to show your costs and workings. These should be kept until you dispose of that years receipts and expenses.

    For FSA regulations you should keep all food receipts for at least 3 months

    uummm...yes you do.
    Not just for tax purposes but for the food hygiene side of things too.
    Not sure how long though, I think it's either 5 or 6 years?
