Hi,
I had my inspection on monday and received an email today. There were a couple of actions I have to comply with, one I agree with.
The other is confusing me,I thought that self evaluation was not compulsory, but the inspector has given me this action
"use self evaluation and quality improvement processes as the basis of ongoing internal review and to ensure all welfare requirements are met"
The report itself says that I have not put in place effective quality improvement processes such as self evaluation, As a result some of the welfare requirements in place to support children's learning and welfare are not met.
I would be very gratefull for any advice or comments

The Ofsted self evaluation form (SEF) is not compulsory.

However ongoing self reflection / evaluation of some kind is essential!

You need to be constantly noting how well you are doing, what you want to do next, where you want to be in a month / 3 months / this year etc.

You don't have to use the SEF form but you do need to put something together ... if you wish it can simply be a file of information you build up over time of how you have reflected and improved.

Most people choose to use the SEF because it's there already and gives a framework for the type of questions you need to ask yourself.

Hth :D

You don't have to do the sef, but you must show how you reflect on your practice - what you do, why you're doing it and what impact it has on the children you look after and what you will do next.

NCMA also has a self-reflection document and if you google you'll find others.

Miffy xx
