I have mr O visiting tomorrow at 1pm. I have been calm all week and have 98% of things sorted and ready. There's a few little bits I need to sort before them but am now panicking I've missed something important.
I know calm down, breath, I'll be fine.
I'm not sure what was more stressful my driving test, moving house whilst pregnant or this!

I was told that Mrs O was coming any day this week between Tues and Fri ... I can honestly say that I did not sleep one wink Monday night as I too was worried that I had missed one of the small but important things.
I won't tell you not to worry, as you will anyway but deep breathes you will get through it

:D
I was in your position this time last week! I felt quite calm on Thursday night about it all and thought I'd possibly forgotten something very obvious. The panic set in for me on Friday morning, however, I managed to get an 'outstanding' so I was extremely pleased!!
Just think - this time tomorrow it will all be over and you can have a relaxing weekend!
Good luck

I know I'll be fine. No way I'll get an outstanding though as I this is my first graded inspection. I have more than covered everything and a bit more and was told by do I was high good with outstanding areas. Ill be fine once he's here x

good luck and keep us posted! I've only had 1 inspection and I was so nervous before hand, but can honestly say that my inspector was lovely - the majority of them are human so I'm sure that you will be fine!

I got a good hun but had to fight him for it as 'I only give out satisfactory to newly regestered childminders'
If you don't agree then challenge it and explain why don't just go with it just be firm and imagine you are dealing with a problem parent. Xx

Well done, really pleased for you. Im hoping for the same. I will definately challenge it if the inspector says new CM's can only get satisfactory, my DO says they are not allowed to say it and if any of us minders get an inspector who says that to report them!! She actually said it much more forcefully but cant repeat it on here!!!!

I only had paperwork from jan as the 2 sisters I had from October left and I gave mum my planning as they went to a new cm. read back through your policies, double check risk assessments, check you have parental responsibilities for all children, when they come in check badge, reel off fire evacuation, send out parent questionaires and have your attendance regester up to date and if each child has their own hand towel make sure you have one set out for them. And seriously stand your ground - I don't agree as I have xyz ect.
If I had just said okay, yeah I would have satisfactory. You know your worth and they make a judgement over 3 hours so point out everything no matter how silly and tell the children everything your doing 'I'm just anti backing the changing mat, then I'll give my hands a good wash to make them clean and then we can play ......'
Natternic- um well I answered the door and checked his badge.
Asked him to take his shoes off, ran through my evac procedure and about him having his own hand towel.
He then said 'you are well prepared however I do not normally give anything other than satisfactory to new childminders'
I replied ' oh good I wanted something to complain about' it was an out loud though so after I am thinking oh ****. But then figured if he's giving me a satisfactory anyway what have I got to loose? I have enhanced provision children so need a good to keep them.
He looked abit taken aback and said 'oh' so I felt I needed to extend so he was told ' I have the right to be inspected without being pre judged and by telling me that you only give satisfactory to new child minders you are pre judging me'
And all he said was 'fair point' so I introduced him to the children showed him to the kitchen table and told him if he needed me that I would be in the living room with the children. Then I sat in the living room feeling panicy but also like I had one uped him lol.
He also accused me of over minding as I had a variation for a 1 under 1 as my son is my origional under 1 so after explaining and him telling me I was wrong I called Ofsted and asked them to explain then passed the phone over to him. He did appoligise. But still felt annoyed that I had been accused as such.
Fun times with Ofsted's inpector but it's over and I won so now I can relax and go for accreditation x Hopefully in 3 years time I will have a nice one lol x

You are lucky you got a good. However at the point any inspector said that to me they would have been asked to leave as they have pre-judged the setting and they have no right to do that. I would have then been on the phone to whichever company they came from complaining and telling them why I had asked their inspector to leave.

If I had got a satisfactory I would have complained on those grounds and asked for a re- inspection.
I used to think that that is what i would do until I was told by my Do that they have the power to suspend your regestration until they have sent someone to inspect. Apparently this happened to another cm she saw back in September. Her regestration was suspended for 3 months, so she would advise seeing it through and complaining at the end.
I'm not sure how much of that is reliable but I didn't want to take the chance as I can not afford 3 months off unpaid plus I'm full so would need to restart from scratch.
It's hard as it is really intimidating being in that situation I'm just glad I pulled it off. Xx
