Help, what more can I do to get hubbys CRB done???
Pre-reg took place on 3rd March, inspector took completed CRB app for DH. I already hold enhanced disclosure so his is the only one required.
CRB application not received at Ofsted til 17th March.
CRB application received and processed at CRB offices on 27th March.
Ofsted have escalated and sent memos to CRB chasing. Hubby has been phoning CRB who state it is held up with local police. According to the CRb Tracking webpage Stage 1 was completed on 27th March (received app and processed). Stage 2 is in progress (searching police national computer).
So although it is 12 weeks since pre-reg and app given to inspector; it is only 8 weeks since app received by CRB. How long should it take and is there anything more we can do to push it along?
Thank you all for your advice.
P.S. I tried to use the search facility on this site to get some ideas but it states no matches when I try CRB or crb?

Hi Hun
I'm having the same trouble too. And hubby is a policeman!!!
I phoned Ofsted yesterday and they said it has been chased and it is at stage 5, which is final stage. Although I don't plan to start minding until August but it would be nice to be able to start advertising.

Mine took 14 weeks!!! Numerous phonecalls etc...
And I've only ever lived in the same town!!!
Sorry - prob not what you wanted to hear... It's just annoying, as there is nothing you can do, and it's all you're waiting for to get started!
Hope it comes through soon.

Ah, yes live in same town but we moved 3 yrs ago and crossed the county border. Postal address still same town and county as before but all our services (council, police, ambulance, lea) different county.
I wonder if that is holding it up then. Will be making another call today to Ofsted. Hubby told CRB yesterday that they are preventing me from starting work as I am turning away mindees. But they just said they would chase it and it can take time:angry: !
Ofsted are chasing it! I rang them yesterday and they said they are chasing it.
Apparantly everything else is back and ready, just waiting for DH's CRB.

I moved from Birmingham to Nuneaton about 4 years ago so I needed my local police records from Birmingham and Nuneaton, now my nuneaton ones have come back but the Birmingham ones still haven;t come back and they have had them since the 1st March. Yesterday I was finally given the details for the police station and I called them for it to go to a answer machine and it basically siad that they have severe back loads and its taking upto 100 days to complete the checks. So if your police check for you husband is with West Midlands Police at Lloyd House try emailing them the details at 'contactus@west-midlands.police.uk'.
Hope this helps, fingers crossed mine get sorted soon.
Naomi
Thanks Naomim221!!!
Will try and find out on Monday who exactly they are with.

Hello me moaning again
Been onto Ofsted, very nice lady, but all she could say is that they are chasing CRB. It is on a recurring review as they have targets to meet and as it is 13 weeks today since pre-reg inspection my application needs to be processed asap.
Rang CRB, very nice man but not very helpful. Nothing they can do as waiting for 'External Datasource'! Asked which police force it is with but could not answer. I stated that online it is showing as 'Stage 2 - In Progress' and this is shown on the website:
"Checking process begins
The first search is against the information held on the Police National Computer (PNC). This part of the process takes up to 10 days."
Application Process:-
http://www.crb.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=4760
He said there is nothing more they can do until the external datasource completes their part of the process. He would not give me a timescale.
So to conclude my very long and boring post, I don't know anymore than I did before the weekend!

I'm in the same position as in just waiting for my bloke's CRB to come back...it's ridiculous...he's a teacher for God's sake so surely it shouldn't take long to see he's fit to be around children!!!
Good idea about getting him to move out though...i may broach the subject over dinner tonight...:D

This is so annoying now,
I phoned Ofsted 2 weeks ago to find out where hubbys CRB was and they said at stage 5.
I ring back just now to enquire again as been 2 weeks and the nice man on line said it is at stage 4 not 5 so still with police records!!!! asked how long this will be cause been told stage 4 for ages and he said can't say. but they usually say 6 to 8 weeks and I said this is over that now.
All they can do is keep chasing. this does not help me who is waiting patiently to advertise for mindee's.
I did fast track ICP and it still takes forever to get registered.

Hubby's CRB is still at Stage 4 - Records held by police search.
So we are still waiting. Only 12 weeks since CRB received  only 15+ weeks since pre-reg inspection!
Good luck to everyone out there waiting for CRB checks:thumbsup:

please telephone the CRB on 0870 90 90 811
I have just called them and they told me what stage mine is at and the ref to track it online, they are very helpful.
Or e-mail Ofsted (include name, ref number, dob, address) and they will email you your ref number back. But I dont think Ofsted will give it you over the phone (at least they wouldnt give hubby his over the phone).
enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk
We are still waiting for hubby's and I am now chasing CRB and individual police forces. CRB are calling it an extremely outdated application as it is taking so long - 14weeks now - and have passed it onto the case managment team. I don't know if that will make any difference or not.

I called CRB place (AGAIN!!!) today. He said "oh i do apologise...it seems it's been 9 weeks since we received it now", really??? Anyway...he said he'll get onto the police to hurry it along. Hope it's not long now!!!
Kelly:)
Woo hoo, got a call from Derbyshire Police Data Protection Unit they have located hubbys CRB check but they have only had it since 11th June. So now it has been given to someone to do and they should have it back to CRB in a couple of days!

His CRB arrived today...YEAH!!!!:jump for joy: So hopefully Ofsted will have it too...i'll ring them to make sure and hopefully i'll have my certificate through soon now:)
Well done SonnysMummy! Thats fantastic news!
Still waiting for my hubby's!!
Well getting passed onto Case Management Team didnt help as we are still waiting. I know that we are waiting for Staffordshire Police but they are saying the check has not been escalated by CRB. Even though we have been waiting so long they will not pull the check out and get it done as they have massive backlogs. I have been told to ask CRB to escalate the checks. CRB have told me on several occasions that they have escalated it.
Ahhhh, what next? How do you resolve this?
We asked for a supervisor to telephone last week but no-one has contacted us.
We have put in a written complaint and received an automated response that our complaint will be looked at within 10days.
Only been waiting 16 weeks (tomorrow) for the CRB, only 19 weeks since pre-reg:angry:

God...it's rubbish isn't it?!!!! All i can say is keep hasseling them. I did...it took about 10 weeks:rolleyes:
Wooo hooooo - hubbys CRB arrived in the post today!!!
Chased it earlier in the week and it was still at Stage 4 (Staffs Police causing delay), looked last night online and it said the disclosure had been posted yesterday 23/7. Very pleased it has arrived, it has taken just over 17 weeks for his CRB to be done. I have fingers and toes crossed that Ofsted will process my registration asap!

Thank you to everyone who has posted on my thread.
I had lost heart a little because of the amount of time taken. But hopefully now my certificate will arrive in the next week or so I can get motivated again. I will be avidly reading all the posts on this forum getting advice and ideas. So hopefully I will be posting more on the forum.
