Hi there,
I'm a newbie, starting out, haven't even been to a briefing session yet, but already stressing out lol:)
My question is what do you all do for heating in you house? Ours in an old house, and we haven't yet put in central heating. At the moment we have a gas fire in the lounge, one of those that look like a real thing if you get me, and a Rayburn, for cooking and the hot water. Will this be ok? This is of course a long way off, but worrying that this might be a negative in the inspection?
Thanks in advance and sorry if it sounds silly lol

Childminders live in all sorts of houses -
What is important is that you can show your house is safe for children...
Risk assessments and sensible safety precautions are all that are needed.
Good luck with the registration process - keep us updated! :D

That's not a silly question!
Can't help you with the answer though but I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Hi You can use a fire guard on the gas fire - not attractive but practical. I will ask my friend what she does as she has an aga and minds. It's never occurred to me to ask about it but she must have satisfied the CSSIW inspectors somehow. I will ask her at school tomorrow.:)
As long as you are able to keep the children safe and warm then their shouldn't be a problem.
You can ask the inspectors any questions on the breifing session as it is there to answer questions before you start the long process of registration with CSSIW.

Don't know the answer sorry but I would definitely ask at your briefing session. It would be a shame to go through the whole process and then find the Inspector recommends allsorts at your pre reg inspection. You could also call your local CSSIW. Ours always has a duty inspector in the office and they should be able to answer your query.
Let us know how you get on!

Years ago when I started minding I did not have heating either
I am sure that it will make no difference what so ever and why should it
Good luck
