I have parents coming to see me this saturday. They have 2 gorgeous twin boys who are under 1. I rang ofsted to ask about a variation, they have emailed me the form to complete and return. OMG you have to give examples of a day with the twins and my own children. I have 3 children, 2 in the early years, however 1 of them will be at nursery. The info that ofsted have sent gives guidance, and looking at it - I am not sure they would grant me this variation.....
Has anyone else had or been in this situation or had a variation for 2 mindees under 1 years old??
Help please

It would be very unusual to be given a variation for new children... however if they were already settled into your care and the parents needed different / extra sessions it might be more likely.

Do what they ask, give an example and see how it goes
You can all but try
Good luck , let us know how it goes

Am interested to see how you do with this, I have had a call today about 9 month old twin boys who I think will be wanting various hours but 5 days a week from initial conversation.
I have the vacancies on all days except 1 morning so am wondering if I will get a variation for those few hours as they are new customers.
I'm not worried about the 2 under 1 as I've had a variation for this before, but just the 4 for possible 4 hours once a week.

I think Ofsted may look at this variation differently because it is for twins and obviously mum will wish them to be looked after together.
You have to make your case as strongly as possible.
Good luck

To make matters worse, this will be my first mindees too!! The parents are only looking for 2 days a week, which suits me fine. I was awake last night worrying about it!! I know the parents havent even been around as yet, they are coming Saturday morning, but the hours/days etc are just what I am looking for and it appears from talking to other cm's that it is a bit slow out there at the moment and there are massive of mindees about!!
Is there anyone I can ask for assistance with completing the form??
Thanks all

Best of luck for Saturday .
In the meantime contact Ofsted and sound them out on the situation. If they are favourable they will agree to send you the variation form, and then, if you are stuck, just ask for help on here.
I have just submitted an application for a variation and it was easy, cos I copied most of what I had put / done in previous applications (which were all granted). There was a new section (risk assessment) that I hadn't done before but searched on here and found some suggestions.
You are welcome to pm your form for proof reading / further suggestions if you want :)

ah thanks to you all. I will have a go at the form, and will only submit once I hear back from the parents after Saturday.
I will keep you posted.
