Just found in my inbox - not looked at - will do later and try to do some guidance (maybe with Sarah 707 if she has time)

Going to tell Pauline so make into a sticky

Here is the statement to explain what they are doing

Ofsted is consulting on changes to the way it registers and inspects early years providers, including nurseries and childminders, following the recent review of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The changes will coincide with the revised EYFS, which the Government intends to publish in September.

The proposals will raise expectations, with a greater focus on children’s personal, social and emotional development and the progress that children make in their learning. The proposed changes would also give those looking after children more freedom in managing their own service, while continuing to keep children safe by strengthening registration and maintaining rigorous enforcement for those who are not complying with requirements.

Thanks Penny,
Had a quick look through and it uses the speak from the new EYFS eg prime areas, so think we will have to see new EYFS in March then we have till April to respond to this consultation!!
Looks a billion times better to fill in questionnaire than for EYFS consultation

As promised a guidance document to help support those who want to to fill in the Ofsted consultation.

I personally think that this one is important as Ofsted inspections of the future will have an impacon us all.

Many thanks to Sarah 707 for her proof reading, her personal comments and the back and forth email communication :D

Had a quick look and read Penny and Sarah's reviews, can understand both points of view. What concerns me is when I am due an Ofsted inspection there is always something that changes and not even Ofsted know what they expect. It really needs to be simplified so we all can understand it. But well done to Sarah and Penny for their quick work in answering the questions.

I had a look at the Ofsted document earlier this week so was very interested to read ****** and Sarahs views, it certainly gives relative newcomers like myself something to think about so thank you both

Just wanted to say Penny and Sarah that you rock! Just read through all that [albeit quickly] and my brain hurts. I wonder how you find the time [and energy]
Hats off to both of you for your unnending support of our profession and for all the work you do for this forum. Many childminders would be lost without it.

I had my childminding briefing session 24th January.
We were informed that there will be changes in September, we will be following the normal route for now and will be informed about new training sessions that come in force to update ourselves with the changes, so more training to come girls.
We were also told that after this "intake" it is possible that future childminders will have to pay for all their training, so wonder if that is what they mean by "strengthening registration".

I will look at the rest later as need a cup of coffee ;)

I've just had an NCMA survey about Ofsted's changes to registration and it said something about scrapping the individual inspections and having us all under a network/agency and being inspected as a whole to ensure we're delivering the EYFS. So childminders would no longer be individually inspected and have their individual outstanding/good ratings but are judged upon how their network/agency does. Also mentioned wether childminders should be registered with Ofsted or not and how that would impact on our professional status. I didn't know of any of these idea's untill i just went through that survey! I thought it was just the EYFS had been tweaked but apparently there's more?

i've just read through that survey too, but its not that simple to always answer eys or no to their questions! i need to do a bit of searching and find out who/what/where to send an email/letter with thoughts in it! as someone said on here, IF whoever was responsible for childminders WAS seen to be PROFESSIONAL and the equivilent of OFSTED then that might work, but if not, then, it won't do us any good at all.
