Last month after my pre reg meeting I was told that the next ICP course is not until September and I need to complete a form ASAP to insure my place. So this arrived, I sent it back and surprise surpirse after just phoning to confirm reciept and my place it appears the form has been misplaced!! A new one they asure me will be sent via email tomorrow but my faith in them has already gone.
I felt as though the pre reg meeting was a waste of time with very few of my questions answered - 'you will learn about everything on your course' she told me. I was offered to be buddied with someone but was unsure whether now is too soon with not sending my application off until August so don't want to waste anyones time. I do feel though as if I am alone in my mission to become a childminder - I realise I can ask questions on here too, maybe I should get a buddy now to start preparing for the course, visit, policies etc etc??

Hi.
I would definately recommend that you sign up to the Buddy Scheme.
In my area we are called Support Minders and I am one.
I am more than happy to help someone who is just starting up and help them to wade through the paperwork and application forms.
I can assure you that you definately will not be alone as you are now a member on here.
The members are really lovely and always happy to help.
I would recommend that you have a good look around the forum as most of your initial questions would have already been asked and answered but of course if you are still unsure and in need of advice then ask away :)
Hopefully the necessary forms will arrive tomorrow
Good luck

It depends on whether or not it is done in your area.
To check you could contact your local CIS and ask.

There are lots of trials and tribulations to registering to be a childminder but it is worth it. I minded before, then moved from England to Wales and am having to re-register. There are loads of us, pre-regs, on here and there are times that you can become really frustrated but I know how enjoyable the job is and cannot wait to start again - sometime soon I hope:) . Sometimes you just feel the need to have a little rant about things that are outside your control but everyone on here understands.
It is soooo much easier if you get to know other childminders in your area. I have childminders that are passing my details on cos they are full - shame I am not yet registered though:( . Get a buddy so you know what to do and what happens next. Any questions and people on here will help all they can:clapping:

Keep hanging in there
I finally had my pre reg visit yesterday after a nightmare from Ofsted cancelling 3 times, the support officer cancelling twice and Ofsted loosing my partners CRB info and my health dec, both of which they are still not sure of their whereabouts. Al this and my grant being stopped ....all stressful isn't it.
I hope to be seeing light at the end of the tunnel now and it will come for you too...its a long boring and stressful wait though.
Keep on at them and hang in there
