Focus on what is happening in the children's lives... or what is going on outside and build up a series of activities based around their interests.

In January I usually have a focus on winter and the changes in teh world around us. I might then plan a week looking at winter food, another week thinking about animals in the winter etc.

themes should be flexible and based around the children's interests, changed as their interests change.
