Just wondering how long I can expect the inspector to be here? Will she/he arrive before the mindee comes? I have one for a school run then another comes at 930am -12 so not with me long.
Also I was thinking of doing pasta or cereal play on the day - how do Ofsted view playing with food? I would do sand but my little boy will eat it all!
I don't use gloves to change nappies as I like to be eco friendly and I wash my hands between changes. Is this ok or will they mark me down?
Lastly, I have my policies/procedures, risk assessments, learning journeys up to date. What else should I have done to show them?
Will probably think of more later!
Thanks!

is this for your first graded inspection? for a graded expect a minimum of 1.5/2hrs. They should have given you a rough time of when they are due - ie if they are not with you by 10am then you go about your day and expect them on an alternative day
Also I was thinking of doing pasta or cereal play on the day - how do Ofsted view playing with food? I would do sand but my little boy will eat it all!
don't do anything particuarly new or different or you could have difficulties. as to playig with food - everyone has their individual opinions on this, howver its not a no-no and you just talk through what the children are gaining from it, why you are doing it - basically demonstrate your knowledge
I don't use gloves to change nappies as I like to be eco friendly and I wash my hands between changes. Is this ok or will they mark me down?
again thats fine, a lot of scope for individual opinion, however you demonstatat that you observe hygine etc - you do it, you describe it in your policies etc
Lastly, I have my policies/procedures, risk assessments, learning journeys up to date. What else should I have done to show them?
any scrap books, feedback from parents and children other professionals etc
they will want to look at certificates/your portfolio
contracts/attendance books
fire logs/drills
accident books/logs
bascially put EVERYTHING into a box or a pile and give it to her
Will probably think of more later!
Thanks!
you are welcome:D

Re: No gloves, I was looking everywhere for eco friendly versions but couldn't find them. I have been using biodegradable nappy bags especially when its not messy.
I use biodegradable wipes too.
Food play sounds great but decide on focus and how this is meet ing the childrens next steps (pouring, scooping, mixing,- fine motor, this is what she was asking me about in my inspection, when she was looking a pictures and LJs.
Also any evidence of sharing information with schools/nurserys, as she asked for this too.
Good luck with it all,

Regarding the gloves, have you considered using a barrier cream?
