And I'm thrilled to bits! I got Good overall but lots of areas of Outstanding :D :D :D :D This is my second inspection and on my first I got Good with good in all areas but this acknowledges the improvements I've made over the last 3.5 years. I was v nervous when I opened the door as I was expecting a different inspector (who I knew and is lovely) but another turned up and she's a notorious tough nut but it appears I cracked her
It was a very different format to my last inspection in that it was very focussed on what I did with the children and far less interest in the paperwork :clapping: though she was here for FOUR hours!! I can't remember all the outstandings but I definitely got them for partnership with parents and ambition to improve. SHe was gobsmacked with the level of training and my committment to CPD - she says for someone who has just 4 years minding experience I'm massively more qualified than people with three times my experience . I thinkshe was impressed as well that I have sought out most of the training myself as the local authority are crap at offering traiing.
Her recommendations were very fair. She complained that I let the kids have too free a reign with the toys - basically for most of the time she was here I had two boys who got LOADS of toys out and I spent quite a bit of time trying to clear stuff up so they wouldn't trip over. Her first recommedation was to make better use of my space and teach the children to limit what they get out/put things away before getting anything else out. The second recommendation was about my learning journals. She likes what I do and my baseline obs and my general obs but feels I need to formalise my next steps more. At the moment I do the obs but it's not clear what the next steps are. I know my LJs are my weakness and I was very honest about that in my SEF and she was really cool about it.
Soooo that's me done for another 3-4 years and next time will be different again as it will be after the changes to the EYFS
