And I'm thrilled to bits! I got Good overall but lots of areas of Outstanding :D :D :D :D This is my second inspection and on my first I got Good with good in all areas but this acknowledges the improvements I've made over the last 3.5 years. I was v nervous when I opened the door as I was expecting a different inspector (who I knew and is lovely) but another turned up and she's a notorious tough nut but it appears I cracked her

It was a very different format to my last inspection in that it was very focussed on what I did with the children and far less interest in the paperwork :clapping: though she was here for FOUR hours!! I can't remember all the outstandings but I definitely got them for partnership with parents and ambition to improve. SHe was gobsmacked with the level of training and my committment to CPD - she says for someone who has just 4 years minding experience I'm massively more qualified than people with three times my experience . I thinkshe was impressed as well that I have sought out most of the training myself as the local authority are crap at offering traiing.

Her recommendations were very fair. She complained that I let the kids have too free a reign with the toys - basically for most of the time she was here I had two boys who got LOADS of toys out and I spent quite a bit of time trying to clear stuff up so they wouldn't trip over. Her first recommedation was to make better use of my space and teach the children to limit what they get out/put things away before getting anything else out. The second recommendation was about my learning journals. She likes what I do and my baseline obs and my general obs but feels I need to formalise my next steps more. At the moment I do the obs but it's not clear what the next steps are. I know my LJs are my weakness and I was very honest about that in my SEF and she was really cool about it.

Soooo that's me done for another 3-4 years and next time will be different again as it will be after the changes to the EYFS

I would love to celebrate but I feel a little bit 'flat' now it's over. A well-meaning friend made a comment of 'I can't believe you didn't get Outstanding' which I can see what she was trying to say but now has me doubting myself and my abilities!

you did get outstanding in several areas, it only takes a lower grade in a particular box to pull whole grade down, you did great.

Fantastic News

Please celebrate - that is a real achievement especially as recommenadations were really about mindees on day rather than actual practice and about LJ's which you had already identified as needing further development, I think you have done really well.

Penny :)

Thanks all. I am feeling a lot happier today - I think yesterday I was just flat after the stress of expecting the inspection as I really don't do well under pressure. Massive sense of relief today and positive about the future and what changes I will make to improve next time.:D :D :D

Forgot to one thing she really loved was my partnership with parents - especially as one of my parents had written a letter to the inspector which was A-MA-ZING!!!:D :D :clapping:

Well done you! How lovely of the parent to write a letter to Ofsted!

She's been with me nearly four years as I'm looking after her second child now. I've done an awful lot for her - in and outside of childminding - so she and her husband are ver grateful to me and she wanted my inspector to know that. :D

I'm really keen to see the published report now - I'm impatient lol :o

A very Well done:clapping: You should be very proud of yourself:) You really deserve it as you are great at what you do :)

I didn't realise that you had an inspection due, but then again I haven't been to minis for a while for a few reasons which I wont go into

My inspection will be a year overdue in January I am sure they will get around to me eventually

I was only 5 months overdue which I was surprised at Solly as they seem to be 9-12 months overdue round this way. I know there is another minder who was due at the same time as you and she hasn't had hers either.

Don't hold your breath! I was almost a year overdue my inspection and have been waiting for nearly 2 months now for it to go live!

By the time they decide to come out to me I will probably have no mindees left have 3 children leaving me at the end of term and one going to Pre-school on one of the days I used to have her so Grandma is having her in the afternoon.

So if they visit after xmas I will have a good chance of knowing which day they will arrive as will only be working 2 1/2 days and on those days will either have 1 or 2 children.

I knew which day she was coming as I only definitely have children one day a week because one child is a fixed day and the other is shift work so their days are variable. Work is so very quiet here atm
