I have my very first inspection on Friday. What should I expect. I have been told to have all my paperwork out but what exactly? Do they need to see all my accounts etc? I have my portfolio, a risk assessement folder and my chidlrens folders which have their contracts in...

Also do they ask you questions? At my pre-reg I was asked loads of things like "what will you do if...?" "How will you prevent...? etc. Will I need to know all about the every child matters and EYFS? I have all my books to hand and posters up, but I dont know it all without loooking at it. Little bit worried now. Also will they need to see my whole house like they did with my pre-reg?

You want to show off how good you are and all the positive parts of your provision.

Your risk assessments, portfolio or evidence file, paperwork, children's learning journeys etc should all be where the inspector can find them.

S/he won't want to see your accounts.

Good luck! :D

The inspector will want to look around your house and also the garden.

Don't assume the inspector will look at everything you put out - if you want them to know something make sure you tell/show them it. Even if they are with you 3 hours or more (and it seems forever) it's a very short time for them to see everything that you do and it is your only chance to impress for the next 3 to 4 years probably so make the most of it!

Make sure your safeguarding practices are watertight - my inspector told me that you could get outstanding in every other area but if safeguarding was not up to scratch then that would bring the overall grade down.

Good luck and don't forget to come back and say how it all went!
