Hi there, this is my first post in this forum, been registered for nearly six months now so I have been expecting the call for an inspecition, and yesterday the 'Prospects' team from Ofsted rang me to ask the hours that I mind, so I knew something was imminent.

I came on here yesterday and must admit that although I found all of the advice about first inspections helpful, it made me worry even more!

Anyway I have some positive news; I just got off of the phone from the lady who inspects on behalf of Ofsted, she was absolutely lovely and really put my mind at rest. I've been quite lucky in that she's only booked herself in for a two hour slot - she'll be arriving at 12.45 and then leaving at 3pm as I have to go and get my son from school, phew! She agreed there was no point coming in the morning as I just have the baby then and he tends to sleep for about two hours in the morning, so she wouldn't get to see me in action so to speak (although in hindsight it may well have been easier for me to have her here if all the baby does is sleep!)

She gave me a big list of all the paperwork that I will need to have with me, some of which I'm panicking about as we're having our bedroom decorated at the moment and everything is absolutely everywhere, it serves me right for not being more organised. I'm making a start on my learning journeys but thankfully I did my policies and procedures ages ago so that is one major thing out of the way.

I feel a lot happier now that I've spoken to her - I also asked her the golden question - what to do with the baby when I need the loo as I have been told not to leave him alone with the inspector at any time; she answered as long as he is safe and secure it is fine, so I'll be putting him into the baby walker while I do that. I'll set my 4 year old up with a colouring activity and he'll be well away for most of the afternoon.

Do feel a lot happier now that I've spoken to her, then I can stop picturing her as some horrible fire breathing dragon!

Just thought I'd post this as a positive for others in my position. Will let you know how I get on!

It's really nice to hear of an inspector being so helpful and glad you're not dreading your inspection now.

Good luck, hope it goes well for you
