Hi
I've been childminding since August 2010 and had my first Ofsted inspection in February 2011.

I received a "Good" Grade with the only recommendation being to 'Develop further self-evaluation systems to ensure self-assessment is reflective and sustainable'

Last week I had a call from a Development worker from the Pre-school Learning Alliance and was told I now need to have my annual 'RAG' review.
It is booked in for next Thursday.

I have no idea what this is?? Has anyone else had this done?

It seems a bit pointless to be honest. If I had received a lower grading from Ofsted I could completely understand the additional inspection 9 months later. Surely this is just an additional waste of resources so soon after already being inspected??

Any advice on these RAG reviews is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Nikki

I live in Essex (if this makes a difference)

RAG stands for Red Amber Green and it is a way of assessing practice and support needed - usually Ofsted grade is just one of the things that they use to decide if you are red, amber or green.

When I worked for Worcestershire LA they were implementing this - alongside other quality indicators.

Although judgements will be made it is not another inspection - it should be a tewo way process - although I know some do not have a positive experience due to level of knowledge by person visiting of childminding.

I hope yours goes well

Penny :)
