I am now over 5 years since my last inspection, i should have been inspected by the end of October, they had 3 dates but never appeared at either of them,, even after all the waiting in, was not amused. Think they wanted to so the half term week, but minded child (baby) was on holidays with his Grandma.

Has any one else had the same or similiar, or knows someone else that has, and what was the outcome.

My childminding friend is in the same boat
my friend and her husband are both registered. Her husband had a call in feb and has had no inspection
my friend had a call two weeks ago and waited in no one came
I am due any time waiting for phone call
we know that they are in the area as a preschool was done during last week
This whole inspection procedure of call and waiting needs to be looked at as its not fair
If the gas man called and made an appointment and never came there would be an uproar
As is the length of inspection my last one was 5hrs I only have a small house
another childminder 2hrs
local private nursery 1 INSPECTOR
what a complete faff

I am still waiting for my first inspection even though I've been registered for just over 2 years. I was due to be inspected in February last year but my Dad died the weekend before they were due so I rang and asked to delay it.
They said they'd give me a few months grace and I'm still waiting! I have rung them 2 or 3 times since to ask for my inspection and they've rung me to check I still have children on my books (which I do) The last time they rang, I told them I'd not stopped minding at all since I started, and they said an inspector would ring me within a week to arrange a date but that never happened. :(
I don't know what else to do short of begging them.....it's not like I'm hiding or anything ;)

I did beg for my first inspection  I was fed up with being asked for my ofsted report by prospective parents so I wrote and asked them to inspect me! Apparently they were shocked that someone actually *asked* for one lol.

And I've overdue now by 5 months but the going rate is 9-12 months overdue here!

I only have 1 little boy before and after school 2 days a week at the moment. Not really sure how much paperwork I should have for him really but I have another baby starting in January.....should I wait until then do you think?

It's interesting isn't it that we are asked to look reflectively upon our practice and to seek feedback from our customers and charges - yet the Ofsted inspectors appear to be exempt from such scrutiny! We are assumed to be unable to care for two kids under the age of 1 unless they are related (can't see what difference this makes) and each Inspector seems to have their own individual set of preferences and foibles for what they want/don't want to see. I asked for a variation in Sept 2010 - to this date I've NEVER received a call about it, nor the visit that they said I needed to have to even be considered for it. What about an open, accountable and transparent complaints system like we have to have, for Ofsted? Where can I leave my Inspection feedback please Ofsted?!!!!! It does need some work doesn't it. In all honesty, if an Inspector cannot deduce if you are capable or not in your home within a max of 3 hours there honestly must be something wrong with them surely!!! They have all your paperwork and you are working with typically about three children, it shouldn't need to take a visit of 5 hours surely.

I had my last inspection January 2010 so will I likely to be called for definate before July? Im planning on finishing childminding to go on maternity leave the end of June so hoping to get away with not having an inspection again. Probably not returning to childminding for 2 years if at all. Really hope they leave me till July and by then I wont be working

i was due my inspection in july 2010. got the call last week they are coming next week managed to pin them down to one day. having said that most of my paperwork is stuck in the garage and can't get to it. we moved week before xmas so don't know how i will get on. not looking forward to it. i dont plan on doing this for more than 2 years as am going into property investments. did find out who i was having as a safety precaution. was told they have their main id badge and also have to carry their passport as another form of id.

I called Ofsted on Friday in regards to my inspection. My 3 years would of been in October 2011. The told me it was VERY unlikely I would get an inspection before September when the new EYFS is introduced as I already have had an EYFS inspection. They told me to expect to be one of the first to have a new EYFS inspection during early September.

My last inspection was Jan 09. I hope they leave me alone till after Sept, looking forward to the new revised framework. Three years goes so quickly, only feels like a few months ago!! Must be getting old :)

I'm not sure how it works, but people I know seem to have had a calll from Ofsted asking if they're working, do they have children in the EYFS etc, then the inspector phones at a later date to arrange when they'll come.

Was you last inspection before EYFS came in or after?

It was before the EYFS started, in the august before it started in the September :)

I'm waiting for the call, registered in Feb last year. Had to cancel their visit due to me having a slipped disc. They said they would call me back in October not heard from them yet.

Hi Im new to this site I have been a childminder for a year and still waiting for my inspection. I have called them and get the same reply that they will be in contact soon. One of my fellow childminder friends who started same time as me is also still waiting. Ofsted were due to due my inspection last year but refused to do it as I was only looking after a 5 year old at the time and they said they would only do it on the younger aged children.

I would also like to ask advice on two matters I have my fire alarm practice on my risk assessment only is this ok and the other issue I have is that I may have a parent who is pregnant and wants me to look after their second child whilst it is born but I will have a child under 1 already. I know I can get a form to fill out but have been told that Ofsted wont accept the form unless they have done the grading inspection which at this rate could be a long time. I cant afford to turn the work down so unsure what to do.

Any help will be welcome :)

Well surprise, suprise i am still waiting, Ofsted did ring up in Feb half term, my hubby told them that i was away with the Brownies, but they have never yet rung back.

The Early Years Inspector came and did their inspection Tues of this week, but of all days the baby i have was in Hospital poorly, so their was no child present. I not having much luck here. It was just like having an Ofsted Inspection. She was very thorough. All the paperwork she wanted to see, i was left in such a mess having to file it all back again. I also found some other bits she wanted to see after she had gone. If baby had been here i don't know how i would have been able to show her all she wanted to see. I did say that too her as well.

Someone i know said that the Early Years are looking at doing this Inspection every year. Just got to wait 15-20 days for the report to come out and then it will be published on the internet.
