Hi Everyone
I have my Ofsted Inspection booked for next week. I have a 23mth old who can talk the hind leg off a donkey & a 2yr old who doesn’t say a lot. Can anyone give me any idea of what to do with them while Mrs O is here. No baking please as I would like to keep the mess down to a minimum lol.
How much free play should they have or should I do all planned things with them & hope that they want to do what I have organised for them.
Thanks

Just relax and do what you normally do with them... play alongside them, interact with them, let them play their games, do your normal reading or music session, prepare snacks, make sure they have a drink all the time, try to get them outside...
Good luck! :D

I was playing a game of dominoes when Mrs O arrived, it was good to demonstrate counting, sharing and taking turns, after the dominoes I asked the children what they wanted to do next, with leading question, 'would you like to play with the track and people (good for showing off the multi cultural toys), or the playdoh etc. when they appeared to get bored I picked up a book and asked if they would like a story. I just talked to the kids all the time and praised them.

Thank you. I am startng to panic like crazy incase I mess up on the day. I feel that I am doing all the right things & parents are very happy with what I do so I hope that Mrs O will be happy too. To be honest I will be glad when next week is over.:panic:

I always find it hard to 'just do what we always do' because we usually go out in the mornings ...... so the kids usually ask why we need to stay in!
so... I usually have a selection of resourses - the best ones to highlight multicultural , inclusion etc and let the children lead.
I try to include singing and musical instruments and a story - can use up quite a bit of time!:D ...has worked so far:)

I don't have any planned activities when Mrs O comes - last time she came was a day I'm usually at group so I explained we would normally have free play. Next time as I can only guarantee I have children on one day of the week is also normally a going out day so again will have free play. Meant to show we are child-led so hopefully they will be happy with free play and resources available for the children.

I got the stickle bricks out and sat and played with the girls while chatting to Mrs O, it's a good opportunity to use language about colour, numbers etc in a simple way.
Just make sure you have all your paperwork out ready for them to see and then try and relax, like Sarah said, make sure they all have drinks and if you can, go outside.
Good luck xx

My Mrs O left 45 minutes ago, I sat her down in a corner with a cuppa and my files and just sat down and played with the children... we played with building blocks mainly but I left it free play and just made sure I interacted with them (which obviously we do anyway but a little more enthusiasm :) )
Good luck for your inspection xx
