I just thought I'd tell you about my inspection last Fri. I was due in feb this year so I was expecting a call. It still makes you feel sick tho lol. A lady called Tuesday morning and said she would be coming on Thursday or Friday. I said I was taking the children out Thursday and she said that was fine and she would come after the school run on Friday. Big sigh of relief cos I have heard of inspectors accompanying childminders on the run, and although we do nothing wrong it just adds to the stress. She said she'd read my SEF and just proceeded to ask me lots of questions from it. After an hour I asked her if she wanted a drink and she said no need cos she was just about finished. I couldnt believe it because once again I'd heard of some inspectors staying for hours. She picked up on 3 things. My dogs water bowl in kitchen. I said children were never left unsupervised in the kitchen and the dogs must have water. She said thats fine and just to add it to my risk assessment for the kitchen. Secondly I need to expand on my next steps planning, which is something I guessed she would say. Thirdly to expand my inclusion with parents (so maybe before the next inspection I may possibly find a parent that is actually interested ha ha ) And thats it. Sigh of relief. I got good all round. As daft as it sounds, I was pleased with good, but a little part of me was secretly hoping for an odd outstanding somewhere, especially as my friend, a teacher had kept saying beforehand, dont worry I just know you'll be outstanding. I realise I still have lots of room for improvement, but it doesnt stop up hoping xx Finally it really wasnt worth all the worrying over.
