Hi:) My baby is due in a few weeks, and I am taking enquiries for September. A lady phoned today about a place in September, and her lo will be 11 mths, and I will also have my baby of about 3 mths. I said Im sure Ofsted will be fine about the one month where I have 2 children under 1, and it is only 3 days a week, and may only have that child on those days to begin with anyway.
But....do I write to Ofsted for permission before the family visit, or once they say they would like a place, then write to Ofsted?

Once the family have visited you and want to use you then i would write to Ofsted for a variation but make it clear to the parents that you can only offer them the place if the variation is granted . Dont see why it should be a problem as it is only for one month but you never know with Oftsed !! Alternatively if its not granted maybe the parent s could hold off for a month ? either way , good luck.

Thanks, seems like the best thing to do, parents may decide they prefer someone else etc. so I will wait and see if they want her to come to me first:)
