I have an Inspection coming up soon, and I've been looking through and I don't actually have many photographs of the children doing various activities - what I do have is all digital pics and therefore on the pc ( I email a selection to parents every now and again ). I don't really want to waste time/money/printer ink on printing these out so I'm making a folder on my laptop to contain as many minded childrens photos as I can find ! I can title them with a brief descrition of who/where/when. Then I though I'd just have it open on Inspection day for Mrs O to look at - does this seem like a good idea? Has anyone else done anything similar and what was the feed back? I'll make sure I don't leave any web browsers open LOL

Another option is to put them onto a DVD and play them through your tv. So they are on in the background:)

Do you need to have a the data licence thing for pictures on computer? Silly question I know but would rather be daft for a few minutes and know the answer lol.

I am very new to this but had my pre reg inspection this week and talked about evidence etc for learning journey book. She made it clear that photos had to be there for a reason. Would they want to see photos that weren't linked to the eyfs targets?

I had a digital photo frame playing while Mrs O was with me recently. I do have some photo frames above the childrens coat hooks with a selection of photos showing the range of activities and outings I offer which she liked. I change the photos often and I find the children love showing their parents and because they are in the hall even the parent on the fastest pickup can have a look. It is also good for visiting prospective parents to see.
If you show them on the Computer make sure you have your registration with the ICO in your RA folder.

at my last inspection I had put a selection of photos on memory card and played them in digital photo frame next to all my folders of evidence, policies, etc Mrs O thought it was a lovely idea especially as I was able to refer to some of them during questioning
good luck

I think the laptop idea is great,
I had my inspection last week and mrs O suggested to me to send photos to parents by email so as you are already doing that is good
May be put the photos on a disk to go in their learning journals when they leave? You can tell mrs O that you are thinking of the environment and saving on paper and ink

I would find some way of having the photos on display - Mrs O loved the fact she was able to look at photos with the mindee who told her all about what we were doing.

I give all my parents a disc at Christmas with all the photos I have taken. I also give one when they leave.

I go to Boots and print out all my photos and display them in each mindees books. Been doing this for years now and it works for me. Parents can see them in front of them without having to access computer etc.
I had my inspection yesterday and she spent over an hour looking at mindees folders and commented that the photos and writing underneath evidenced what I was doing with the children.
Overall I got an outstanding anyway so I'm pleased.

i quite often put the laptop on the hall console at pick up time with recent photos on slide show - parents love seeing them all , they dont all make it as far as the learning journey!
I did the same during my inspection and also mentioned it in my sef - positively received by mrs O.

What's the big deal with photos? Yes, I can see how they're nice to look at but are they supposed to be some kind of proof of what you have been doing?

The photos are evidence of the kind of activities, resources and setting you provide. They are the easiest way of showing Ofsted and prospective parents what you do on a daily basis. In a learning journey they form a picture of a child growing and developing and sometimes act as observations. On walls, notice boards, laptops and digital photo frames they give children a sense of belonging.
