:ohdear: I have my Ofsted inspection tomorrow and I am really nervous. I think i've covered everything?!
I don't know why I am nervous I've been at nursery when they've been inspected and in all fairness it is a pre-reg visit and not a graded one.
Despite the logic I have just mentioned I am really nervous and think I will actually cry if it all goes 'poof'!
Has anyone had a male inspector and what were they like??
Maybe I'll have a nice relaxing bath and drink all the alcohol in the house?? Will have to act like an alcoholic and hide the bottles though because how bad will that look a recycling box full of wine bottles?? I could fill them with water and put them back in the cupboard!

Any ideas on how to stop feeling so nervous??
Any tips besides pretending not to be home??

Thanks x

I sympathise!! I have been minding for 13 years now and I still get nervous - would much rather have teeth removed :panic: !

I would suggest that if you are going to drink all the alcohol in the house, you make sure its vodka so the inspector doesn't pass out with the fumes in the morning

Good luck, hope it goes well!!

Good luck Tara I'm sure you'll be fine.

I had my pre reg visit a month ago & was so nervous  I thought I wouldn't remember anything and would come across as a babbling idiot!

The lady who came was lovely & the two hours flew by. She didn't want to see any policies or anything like that, just asked lots of questions. In fact she gave me some really good advice!

Just hope I get her in a few months time when it's for the grading visit! One tip she gave me for the next time was to do something different or unusual with the children when the inspector was there, said it sometimes gets a bit boring seeing the same things all the time! Goes to show they are human after all! LOL

Good luck Tara x

 Ill keep my teeth and have the inspection! I dont like dentists no idea why its not them just the job they do lol!

Julie- sorry only just got you message but ryan had his injections - waited nearly an hour to be seen! do feel a bit guilty ranted at the receptionist!
Ill message you later if your online!

Thankyou every one as always i feel like a complete wally! You were right it was fine. My inspector was lovley and was actuall cracking jokes  I know!
Mr O was happy and didn't really pick up on anything major.
:o I did however let myself down on my complaints policy and i completely agree it is naff he said after id i know all that why haven't i written it down- simply because my complaints policy was the last one i wrote and i had actually had enough of writing policy's so it wasn't as 'well written' as my other policies.
Obviously i showed off my superior knowledge of the eyfs and schemas and he complimented me on my safeguarding policy and my knowledge of the signs ans symptoms of abuse. (although if i didn't know it all off by heart after having it rammed down my throat for 5 years i clearly haven't been doing my job properly!)
My gorgeous little boy slept through most of it and woke up at the end and have mr o some lovely smiles! (extra brownie points thank's to a content happy little boy who sat chatting away and laughing at me when i spoke back to him and played with him whilst Mr O was typing) Little monkey let out a huge 'pop' and poo'ed all over me! Mr O and Ryan both though this was highly hilarious! (Ryan will now receive less presents at Christmas lol;) ) anyway all went extreamly well.

Before leaving Mr O said 'You will receive your grading visit 6 months from your date of registration. Normally first grading's are satisfactory as the childminder is still becoming settled and finding their feet but if you carry on the way you are going you could end up with a much higher grading'! :clapping:
So i now cannot fit out my front door because my head is massive:laughing: and i'm so excited and have been on a high for the last few hours (minus the doctors surgery incident but they were clearly taking the biscuit and my little man was exauseted because the were messing up his routine!- so that doesnt count)! I hope i get Mr O back for my grading visit i think i'm on to a winner! woop woop!
This said i gaurentee i panic at my grading visit ha ha lol!

Thankyou all for posting
Much love muwahhhh
Tara xxxx

P.s I just thought id add i was joking about the alcohol and getting drunk! lol In all fairness i wouldn't need several bottles maybe 3 glasses?? I'm not a big drinker and have only ever been completely drunk once on my 18th birthday (good times)

Ring Ofsted and they will send you a copy. They will also send you a code and explain how you can access it online.

Not too sure how long they've been about as I'm new to childminding. I got mine a couple of weeks after I received my certificate.

OFSTED sent me a log in number so I could go on line & begin my SEF, along with all the details I need to get started.

I think prior to your OFSTED inspection the inspector will read your SEF so they get a good idea of you & your strengths & weakness etc before they visit. It will hopefully make the visit shorter if they can get a lot of the information they need from your SEF!

I'd give OFSTED a ring and ask them about.

Hope that helps a little
