after waiting and almost a year over due ive got the call and they are coming next week couldnt be a worse time lol

1 had a new child start last week
2 have a new child next week starting and dosnt speak english polish only
3 burnt my right hand and cant write at the moment

could it get any better !!!

my own fault stayed at a friends house and didnt know there arga cooker was on and put my whole palm on the hot plate back to the docs to have it checked over hoping the bangages will come off so i can use my hand at the moment i look like micheal jackson with one white glove on lol never knew how hard it is to work with one hand cancelled all my little children and only had the over 5s

Ask them to postpone until little one is settled in. I had my Inspection a week ago after nearly a year ovedue. They rang and said I had to wait in for 2 weeks which I refused to do. (Prospect) They then said they would leave it until Sept when I could wait in :eek: .

Nooooo and I said I wanted the inspection before this week when I had 2 new starters and didn't feel it was fair on them to have a stranger in the house or on me when I didn't yet know the children well.

So they agreed and gave me 31st Aug or 1st Sept and came on 1st. The inspector did not contact me and when they turned up she had a trainee with her unannounced! The trainee had no photo ID so i made a big thing about only allowing her in because I knew the children would never be alone with her but I was not impressed at the lack of ID or being asked if I minded that there would be two of them.

During the inspection I asked the inspector for an emergency Variation. She refused point blank saying she could not authorise Variations and I would have to ring Osted about it!

I rang Ofsted who were furious that she didn't deal with it, the guy I spoke to said 'What do we pay them for!!!' Anyhow he phoned Prospect and they said they couldn't do it quickly enough so he did and I had my new Certificate emalied by 4pm that day!

Back on course!! During the conversation with Ofsted it came up about the request to stay in for 2 weeks and that Inspectors no longer phone the cm ahead of the inspection. He was horrified and I did post this last week.

ALL CM INSPECTIONS HAVE TO HAVE A DAY AND TIME SPECIFIC APPONITMENT MADE FOR THEM. THE APPOINTMENT HAS TO BE MADE AROUND THE CM NORMAL ROUTINE SO THERE IS AS LITTLE IMPACT ON THE CM ROUTINE AS POSSIBLE.

You are supposed to have a call form the inspector prior to the inspection and they have to ask you if you mind a second person with them in your home. Apprently both Prospect and Trible have had communications from Ofsted in recent months saying in the strongest terms that the above it what has GOT to happen.

I have pages of comments and complaints about my inspection and Ofsted are behind me so I will keep you all posted.

Karen, I would stand your ground, phone the company who are doing your inspection and explain the situation and ask them to postpone. After all like me you are well overdue anyway so what is a few more weeks?

Sorry, on a more general note I think a few more of us have got to start to stand our ground as far as inspection is concerned and stand up for ourselves. I know it can be intimidating but unless we do complain things will never improve.

i did mention that i had a new child starting that week so they said they would come later in the week lol i also mentioned i had burnt my hand which didnt have much affect on their caring nature but i did check to see if it was the horrible inspector i had last time and was assured it wasnt her and oh yea by the way they will be bring a buddy to inspect their inspector does that mean i will get a jobs worth i hope not but i have pinned them down to wednesdaythursday or friday only because i told them the parent would be attending with the child the other 2 days and they didnt speak much english and may find them intimidating which they agreed

P.S the bandages have been removed so im flat out checking all my paper work and making sure everything is in tip top ive even done the self evalation from not the ofsted on the one my network officer sent to me was so much easier to do and she said they would be happy with that

if i dont get a better grade this time i think i will just kill my self i have worked so hard and always had a good grade untill the last inspector called !!!!!!

Thanks rickysmiths for posting this info as I have an inspection due so I have printed off what you have written so that when they ring me & want me to stay in for 2 weeks I will refer to my notes. Forwarned is forarmed lol

Gosh your inspection sounds like my last one!Got mine on wed and if i cant get past satisfactory then i just wont know what to do because that will be me trying my absolute best!good luck for yours.x

well no sign of them yet but i had a visit from my PLA development officer to check me over and left me feeling even worse so i wont be going to bed tonight i will be working through the night to encopirate everything she said lol

one thing i didnt know is our safe gaurding books are not valid and that they have done a new one but not published it but she told me to down load the copy keep on computer and print off pages 400 - 405 (contact numbers) and keep in my policies folder putting foot not on safe gaurding children updated info in back of book this all happend in june 2011so your little purple hand books are null and void maybe different colours for different areas??? the document was called LSCB procedures

she also gave me a list of policies that you should have to meet eyfs welfare requirements

complaints
confidentiality
food and drink
illness and infectious diseases
inclusion
lost child medicines
outings
safe gaurding children
uncollected child policy
working with parents

lucky i had them all and more just needed to review and redate and update some

she also gave we an essex works self evaluation form to do easier then ofsted long one so done that

she also mentioned that this year our NCMA insurance only covers children over the age of 6 on a trampoline and the trampoline must be no where near a fence and have trees over hanging and only one child on at a time any other devation your insurance is not covered

also you are not coverd if the older children leave your premises to go out to play with out supervision so think twice before you let them senior school kids out the font lol
