i don't but thats me, ofsted lady mentioned nothing about it atall and if she had i would have pointed out my fridge is cold and clean as i care about my kids food safety and would not risk food poisioning.

Maybe just write a policy that states you will ensure fridge is cold by temperature of food and ice on the back wall. that kind of thing. If you have to pass a food safety inspection though you will need some way of checking it if not recorded x

I check mine every time I take the milk out by feeling if milk coldn- but don't record it. I just record fridge temp (in my diary) once a week.

The requirement of Safer Food Better Business for Childminders is to check temperatures and make a note if there is a problem.

My fridge shows temp on the front so I go by that - it is a new fridge and it makes it so easy. Freezer I have a little hanging thermometer, I look every day when I use food from freezer and if it looks too warm/cold I adjust it.

In my diary I write F/F and tick for each.

Just completed the food course and had the inspection in my kitchen. My council asks that you (for good practice) take a temp am and pm to monitor daily for change and aslo to ensure food given/stored for children is maintaining its temperature of 5 or lower. They also require you to take one of the freezer which I found ridiculous. Theres so much they want you to record that I just find time consume and lets me honest I think you would know if you opened fridge/freezer adn things where coming out hot/not cold enough to some degree. When I remember Ive been logging it in my diary but right this minute Im not so bothered as have no mindees!

Forgot to say

I have had 2 inspections by environmental health - and what I do was fine with him.

Babycat - that amount of recording is excessive - I note they said for good practice - so not a must.

I would say the touch test with the bottle of milk - which is usually more than twice a day is sufficent (for good practice)

As Sarah says make a note if there is a problem - if I have a problem I write what problem was and what I did about it.

We have a fridge thermometer and just check the temp each morning and log it on our Daily check sheet, everyone was happy with this Ofsted and environmental health so happy days
