Parents feed back, Questionaires, letters cards etc
My inspector yesterday was very hot on Working with parents.

Make sure you can demonstrate how and when and why you up date and review you Risk Assessments. Make sure you have your name on each one and you have signed and dated it.

Emergency Plans and an Evacutaion Plan and records of any evacuation practices with dates, who was there and how long it took to get out.

I think I had a picky inpsector though!

Good luck I hope everything goes well.

tips:

1.do you have any resources that you could put a label on saying "parent copy - please feel free to borrow"and leave them in a basket or something in your hallway, esp anything to do with safety? i have an extra copy of SFBB, DVD re childhood immunisations, EYFS pack etc

2.don't forget to ask them to sign visitor book

3.if you have a visual timetable, download a picture of a smart lady at a laptop and edit it with "ofsted inspector" beneath and add it to your timetable. if you know the inspectors name already, put that on instead. this prepares children for a stranger coming. my inspector loved this.

4.put fotos on disc and have it playing on your tv in the background.

5.if you have cren with you, do an activity that isn't going to have you on edge. try treasure baskets, on a rug on the floor, with lots of cushions, soft music, books around, puzzles, wooden blocks - nothing too adventurous or hairy. this will save you wanting to strangle anyone.

6.make sure you have lots of tissue boxes around and hand gel, and remember to get kids to wash hands after loo and b4 eating.

7.put weekly plan in hall to show that parents are made aware of planning. i get kids to write mine out to demonstrate that they are involved in planning for their own learning.

i could go on but i'd be here all night lol

What a fantastic idea! I have a visual timetable and may well steal it for my inspection - whenever that might be  (they are running around a year late round our way!)

That is a great idea!

I know someone who wrote a story about the inspector's visit and shared it with the children so they knew what to expect on the day - that went down well with the inspector too.
