Yes I think there has to be one on every level of a house.

Oh Ok Could you please tell me from where can I buy a cheaper smoke alarm:( As I cant spend alot of money in a rented house:panic:
Hi I too live in a rented house. I think the landlord should provide one for each level of your home. You could check this with citizens advice or your local council. Hope this helps. :)

Never scape on items that can save your life!
Get a good make and have spare batteries in a door. Ofsted asked me if I carry spare batteries. Felt like saying do I look like I do:D

The fire brigade fitted our one for free when then came out for our home safety check- worth asking them if they do this in your area. But if renting, also try to get landlord to sort this out for you.

If you're in rented property I think this is your landlord's responsibility.

Phone the fire brigade and ask them to come round. They replaced my two and re-located them to a more appropriate place.

I have just had the fire service come out to mine, they put two new 10 year fire alarms in for free and replaced my extent ion leads and helped me with my fire plan, it is worth giving them a ring
