Hey everyone,

At last i finally have Ofsted coming to do my intial registration visit. Now i know this has probably been asked a thousand times but any tips for someone that has gone to bits with nerves. very silly as my years of a manager in the social care sector i have been inspected by CQC loads, but this is new, a dream that i have had for over 2 years now, and when i was made redundant it was a massive possitive as i now had the kick up the bum that i needed.

Mrs O said she will need a couple of hours, what will they want to see? How the hell do i remember anything? Am i allowed notes to refer to? Sorry am just after any tips that will help all run smoothly and have a little confidence in myself, i could also make some nice BIG FAT cupcakes for her (lol)

Thanks in advance everyone

Just be yourself, what i've heard it's really not that bad, do you not have a booklet to filll in to remind you(sorry can't remember what its called) My friend had her's a few months back and she was well worried, but all went well, she wanted to see her p&p a little look round the house and asked a few questions. Good luck

Definitely fill this in:

http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/childcare-registration-form-early-years-register-preparing-for-your-registration-visit

and you can refer to it during the visit, so: if they ask 'what would you do if...', you can look at this form and say 'as I wrote here, I would....' and it saves you forgetting things with nerves.

Also, remember they are not judging what you have in place now but what you say you will have in place in future, or will consider in future.

They will look at all indoor and outdoor spaces, even rooms or areas you are not planning to use for CM, just in case there is something iffy/illegal(!)/dodgy going on in there.

Good luck!

Good luck.

If you have any questions then definately write them down. She will also check house/garden to ensure it is safe. They will then offer advice on safety improvements etc.

Well just wanted to let you all know I filled in my booklet but didn't need it as once I started talking about my plans and what I wanted to achieve it just all came naturally so answered all her questions and the nerves disappeared! She said how impressed she was so was very very happy when she left! She has put down for me to have 5 children, including my son who will be 3 in December! I asked questions and told her of the plans for the future, the one thing I forgot to ask is...... What happens next???

I've completed and passed Cypop 5, first aid, safeguarding children have all risk assessments policies and procedures and all other paperwork, very sad me with all the paperwork I enjoyed doing (background as a manager in health and social care)

Still waiting for crb's which I'm going to start chasing so what does happen next guys????

Ps thanku for the comments xxx
