Inspection on Thursay. It's my first one since being registered in Feb. So I have no idea how good all my planning/paperwork is etc. I do planning for the topics that we look at on a monthly basis, but I don't do any formal planning for the week. Mindee is only here part time so I tend to just go with the flow and possibly guide them into activities that link in with topics iykwim.
Will ofsted mark me down for not weekly planning. Should i cobble something together now? Help!!!!

I registered in feb too and had my inspection Friday. I don't do weekly planning only monthly. My inspector said this is fine as it shows there is flexibility on my part to go with the needs of the children. My planning has been very loose and my inspector didn't have a bad word to say! Try not to panic and just talk through everything with your inspector. Even though you don't write it down you can explain what you do.
Good luck with your inspection!

Hi there - I too am a new childminder and I havent yet had an inspection but I have been on an Observation, Planning and Assessment course with my council which I would definately recommend.
Basically it said that we should complete a "weekly environment planning" sheet which demonstrates the variety of activities provided under different subsections of / water , sand , book/cosy area, small world............many of these might have been covered by attending any childminder drop ins that you attend. I hope this helps, and good luck with your inspection:)

I just wanted to add to my comment from yesterday - to say, I haven't been inspected yet - so the other advice posted sounds fab to me!! - just relax and explain what you do - I think a lot of the paperwork we are required to do- ie/ risk assessments etc etc are all things we actually do automatically.
Good luck !!! hope it goes really well for you :)

Lorraine,
So sorry about your mum. Well done on a fantastic report. I cannot believe you went through with it so soon after losing your mum. You really are an inspiration. :)

To be honest I really dont remember it all now as life was very much a blur at the time. I had cancelled her as she was due on the tuesday after the 1st bh in april but my mum passed away on the thursday eve so was a nightmare to get hold of Mrs O but we did and she was really really lovely about it. She even remembered my mum from when she did my pre reg visit :)
