hi all, i finally have my inspection booked on tues. ( been waiting since april ) typical luck in summer hols, but not as bad as could ahve been. only have two each day, then my own two. so four altogther.

just a few Qs if anyone kind person can help me?

ages of children 1 / 3 (just) and (8/9)these are my own two.
they tend to love free play, making dens and biulding walls from the huge bocks i have. they all play really well, but im just worried cause should i have a planned acitivity ??? although i have ideas we never tend to do it, so im honest here ans go with the flow, catching their eyfs as we go.

would this be ok?

will Mrs/Mr O ask my own children any Qs ?

my ds also tipped a full cup of tea all over my diary, its all stuck together, wlthough i have peeled most pages out to get info. its gross now.
anyway i did use this for my register , (quick change of plans there), i now have seprate file for these. but the tea leaf diary has all my evidence in, but not readable. GUTTED.
i have bought another new one and filled in the pages back to june, well as much as i could as i had ideas, / obs / rs issues etc in there....... will i be in trouble for this. by that i mean - not having my evidence of practice, wil it affect my grade?

im hoping my photos ( over 300) will prove my practice.... do they? would it matter if my ljs are not totally up to date. by about a month i mean.

would mrs/mr O only want to see the ones i look after a the moment - as i ahve 5 under 5s on my books. but only 3 of those in the hols. and only 2 of them on tuesday. iykwim

any other ideas or biggy checks ?

im panicing a bit now, and begnning to over think things, i have a list and im working through it but more things being added......

My inspector only wanted to see LJs for the children with me on the day - she expected them to be up to date and asked where the stuff was for the current week.

Free play is fine if that's what the children do - it's best not to introduce something new the children will show that it's different to their routine and the inspector will have seen it all before.

Good luck! Don't forget to let us know how you get on :D

making dens sound fun! all can play together and have a picnic!

I had some toys set out for my own kids 5,3,1 as my mindee just 9mths but i sat and played with mindee and read my daughter a book next to him, stopped him swallowing a few duplo people, same old!

crap about the diary, i'd put my effort into the evidance there, do some obs quick and maybe re-enact some good ones you lost? if you do obs every few weeks and it works though maybe that'll be ok.

best of look, and i send good vibes for well behaved kids! x

Good luck. You could show the inspector the damaged diary and also the one you are trying to re-fill in so she knows that its important to you and that you are doing it.
As sarah said though, just the current children you have on the day LJ's. My one also wanted to see that I had RA's, P&P's etc - although did not read them just looked at the file. Lastly - visitor log. Make sure the first thing you do is checK ID and get them to sign in.

My inspector looked at all the children's learning journeys whether they were there on the day or not - she wanted to see evidence of next steps planning and that it had been carried through.

Safeguarding was a biggie with my inspector so RA's, daily register, visitor's log, accident forms, medication forms were all looked at in detail.

I agree about not doing things differently on the day - children have a habit of saying if things are not as usual

Free play is fine although I'd have something in mind if the children become bored or aren't sure what to do. I don't think the inspector will be interested in your own children.

Best of luck - hope it goes well for you.
