All of my inspections have lasted for around 3 hours. My last inspector arrived just after 9 and stayed for lunch with us!
My first report in 2005 was good. (that was the highest then). My second report was a year later when my co-worker began working with me. We both got outstanding. My latest inspection was June 2009 and we both got outstanding for that too. We have been getting ready for our next inspection (2012) since the last one really because we see it as an ongoing process. This way, if Mr or Mrs O ever did decide to do an unannouced visit then we are always prepared for them.

Three hours 15 minutes with SEF complete - last one pre-SEF was three hours 30 minutes so not a lot of difference time wise! Got outstanding both times.

I had my first inspection on Thursday mrs o was here for just over 2 hours, she hardly asked me any qustions. I had done my sef but not submited it to ofsted, and she did not even ask to look at it.

Same with me. My first inspection was 2 weeks ago. The inspection lasted about 2 and a half hours. My believe was that the first impression ste the mood for the inspection. As soon as Mrs O walked into my dining room she saw all my posters on the walls, toys in the corner and all my info, policies etc laid out on teh dining table.
Was worried about the inspection but went really well.

times are changing with the new ofsted system. Mine was 3 years ago, with SEF, 5.5 hours and I had to ask her to go as I had a school collection to do.

she doen't sound very through.
mine was 9.15 to 12.45..... three days later. oh no it just felt like that!

asked loads, did pin me down to one room a bit which was annoying. put my mindee to bed before she left but she did the overview then so it worked well.

I got a good. don't think the big O will ever be me, i could never describe myself as outstanding, except in baking but don't think thats on the Ofsted SEF!?
I wish i had one every year. i'm worried about my standards falling as its a long time to keep paperwork so a daily house safety check sheet becomes 900 sheets of recyling!

Used to work managing Subways and had evaluations every month and i thrived on it.

i left my inspectors (there were 2) in my house whilst i did the nursery pick up. just showed them where the kettle and biscuits were and left them to it. when i got back, they gave me my feedback.

I've had 2 inspections now and both were around 2.5/3hrs long. The first inspection I got Good in all areas and at my last inspection I got Outstanding in all areas.
