Hi Just wondered how long it is til your first inspection? someone mentioned a 6 month inspection - is that a vague timetable or pretty precise? I registered in April and have only had mindees over holidays. I have 2 over this holidays but both go back to pre-school in september! I'm worried by the time I get my inspection I won't have any children!!

It is normally within the first 6 months but you will get a phone call first to check if you are minding as they won't inspect you if you haven't got any children.

Thank you - yes thats what i'm worried about if i have no children, as i feel it would be beneficial to have a grading - well hopefully if its a good one anyway!

they may still inspect you, however, if you have children on your books but none are there at the time of inspection but they will ask you if you would prefer them to come back another day when children are in attendance. This happened to me in my first ever inspection. 2 children were off poorly (siblings) and I had just dropped one off at morning nursery. I decided to proceed regardless. What was even more daunting though was my inspector was being appraised by her line manager during my inspection - so I had two of them! Still, back in 2005, I got a 'good' regardless.

ooh well done on getting a good! I am hoping to keep photographic evidence of what I've done so if that did happen I would want to show them. I guess my own child doesn't count?!!

I'm afraid your own child doesn't count, no.:( but Ofsted will be happy to look at any evidence of what you do do with the minded children whilst they are with you

Guess I will just have to be patient and wait and see!! (And pull my finger out with some promotion so I can some permanent children on my books!!)
