Yay! I finally got my approval from Mrs O a week last Friday and my cert arrived today. First Mum coming today or tomorrow to sign up!
I didn't plan on offering Holiday Care but for the first 6 months minimum I will be doing, and we'll see where it leads me! Now to plan activities to keep an 8, 7, 5 and 2 year old happy for 6 weeks :panic:
Is it acceptable to be asking for small contributions towards trips/swimming etc? I have kept my fees low, in line with other summer care providers, but I have started planning a few small trips and am hoping to have one main trip half way through.
Any advice welcome x

Well done on becoming registered :clapping: :jump for joy: :clapping:
I dont ask for contributions towards trips, i cover them with my fees. I dont see a problem with asking parents for a small contribution but consider what you will do if they say no:rolleyes:

Congratulations on getting your registration through and having some work lined up - very exciting :clapping:
I do ask for a contribution to some entrance fees for outings but limit those trips to no more than one a week in holidays so parents don't have too much extra to pay.
I have checked out local holiday clubs who are often cheaper than my daily rate but charge for every outing including transport costs which I don't do.
I include about charging for entrance fees in the contract so there's never any arguement when it comes to it - most parents are fine about it.

Thanks, I was hoping to do one main trip over the 6 weeks - and just one or two small trips each week. Most will be free entrance so I wouldn't ask for a penny towards them. Parks, local events and our local rangers service have quite a bit on. Our school has a holiday club 9-3.30 every day and only charge £70 per week! I am charging a fair bit more than this but for 8-6. I run all summer, our school does 4 weeks I think.
I am very excited but also quite nervous about getting full timers once school starts - time to get advertising!!

My Mrs O was lovely, she asked lots about safeguarding 'What would you do if?' type questions. I failed miserably in knowing what to do with the scenario she gave me. I also was embarassed as my CO detector was out of date (I've now bought a battery powered one). I also said 'Oh yes I wanted to ask you' several times, and she said you can't do this at your first inspection you know!! She was happy with the house, just suggested a couple of things to improve rather than action planning them. I had printer problems the night before my visit so I only had my 6 main policies printed off. She asked to see my risk assessments too, but I only had one in draft form but she was happy with it as it was specific to my house, as she hates seeing pre-printed one's that haven't been amended to suit. She gave me some great tips too, like ask the place you're going for a copy of their risk assessment rather than having to do a lengthy one each time. Oh, I also got my cert exactly 8 days after my insp xx
