Hi,
I have just had a phone call from Prospect asking if I had any children in the Early Years. I said no, I dont have any children yet I got registered 2 weeks ago. She said she would ring back in a couple of months. I asked what it was regarding and she said a inspection. I was told I would be inspected approx 6months after registration. So I said this to her and she said "thats Ofsted, we are prospect and we inspect the Early Years. I am so confused now, surely they give you chance to get organised and put together some evidence before they come and inspect you? Does anyone else have any experience of this. I have heard of thenm doing inspections, but understood it was on Ofsteds behalf, so would do it after 6months of registration?
Thanks

I always thought they they do the inspections on behalf of Ofsted too and should come out after 6 months of you being registered. Dont know how they can expect to inspect you when you have only been registered for 2 weeks, it makes no sense at all
I would call Ofsted and check with them.
I know that I would not be happy if they were to come and inspect, without being properly set up or having any information to look at. What would be the point!

Hi,
Ive been registered since october, and knew I was due an inspection, so when the lady called from prospect today to organise mine I was half expecting it.
I believe prospect and Ofsted run hand in hand and they do the inspections for ofsted to see how you deliver the EYFS to any minded children you have in that age group.
I would imagine it would be better for them to have evidence of what you do as in 2 weeks with no children you won't have any yet!! maybe it was just a mix up as she said she would want to see my risk assessments, how I interact with the children and keep them safe and planning for the children and myself.
My lady is coming out next week, Im nervous and excited at the same time, but feel ready to show all the things Ive been doing with the children.
fingers crossed they like what they see!
good luck with your minding too
Sara :)
I believe its actually within 6 months. When I was first registered Ofsted phoned me about a month after I was registered but I had no kids at the time. When I finally got children they inspected me 2 weeks later and I got a good so don't worry about not building up enough evidence.

It can be anytime within your first 6 months so be prepared. It just depends how busy they are in your area.

I was told "within" 6 months. I was inspected after 5 weeks of first mindee starting and even though I did feel well organised, hadn't done SEF etc, I was also graded a good
I think she may have badly worded what she was trying to say, I thought that prospect inspect on behalf of Ofsted
Don't stress yourself too much

Hi Asti :),
Don't panic :), just work continuously toward having your setting the way you want it within the 2 months. If they ring back and you still have no EYFS mindees they will postpone it again.
I know its scary, but you do have time now to perfect your systems, plan what you want to get done etc ... and think of that lovely feeling when its all done and you have your first grading under your belt
best wishes,
Wendy :)
