Hi, re: paulines food & hygiene course
didn't know you could get an online course, I thought the enviromental agency had to come and check premises etc.
I know I'm being fineky, but how would an on line course know you were'nt telling a porky.
shouldn't the guy really come and check??
Thanks

You need to register with Environmental Health as a food business if you store, prepare or serve food to mindees. It varies from area to area but they may come out and inspect your premises

If you get a "Safer food better business for childminders" pack it will show you what they're looking for

yeah, I down loaded the pack, read through everything on there. but it doesn't help me on whether I take an online course and test or actually get the inspector to visit and test.

not sure how this all works.

Once registered you need to register with your local Environmental Health Dept at your local council. Some councils come out and inspect and others don't so you really need to have a word with them to see what they do. The council don't do the food hygiene certificate if you want to do the course you can do it at a college or do an online course. You could always give the council a call now and say that you are in the registration process and ask if they will inspect you once registered.

Hi
I currently work in a planning department for another 5 weeks due to redundancies :(

You shouldn't need planning permission if you have up to 6 children. I wouldn't have throught it would be a change of use as the actual time that you would be over 6 children would be deminimus but its worth asking. Just ask for some pre application advice.

You might just want to check your house deeds tho that you can work from home..

Good luck...I'm hoping to have my first visit from Mrs O in the next few weeks....

never thought of looking at house deeds tho. why would that be. As I own my own house?? very bizzare..

Thank you for all your help, was there anything missing.
I wish when you did the course, they actually gave you check list of the things you need to do before and after you have your inspection, just a plan and simple check list would be great.

Thank you again
Tanya

Although you own your own house you may still have a mortgage on it which may state you cannot work from home (unlikely but you never know) also some of the new estates although you buy your home they have conditions attached like no advertising on the property, some even have clauses like no work vans or caravans to be park on the drive/garden.

How or who they enforce this I have no idea but just in case xx

no mortgage, luckly, only household bills , like gas water telephone etc. very old housing estate. over 70 years old.
not even sure whhere the deeds are nnow, I think they are in a vault at thhe solicters, about 15 miles away.
