I have read somewhere that by 2010 all childminders need a degree or are enrolled to do one, have i gone mad or have i actually read this? plus do we need to do a degree in early years? I am doing the diploma at the moment but am not sure that i really have the time to do a degree.
any ideas because am very lost!!!! (doesnt take much though:laughing: )

I was told it was a level 3 qualification - so the DHC/NVQ would suffice.

If that's the case I'll be giving it all up by 2010. I don't have any free time for family life as it is

Right..think I know where you got the degree bit from...basically it's because we work alone...technically that should mean we are classed as managers...hence by 2010 we should have degrees...though this was moved to 2015 (basically it started as level 3 for managers then they moved the goal posts)! However as childminder a level 3 is what actually applies! It's the same with food hygiene...technically because we are'nt supervised we should have an intermediate certificate, but actually the foundation certificate is applicable! Hope I've made sense!:)

You shouldn't have a retirement date yet as as things stand only a level three by 2010 is applicable! :D
