I never finished my SEF first time arround so dont worry

have policies and procedures in place and risk assessment and signed by you or parent
medicine folder up to date
fire drill and fire escape route
first aid box checked for up to date stuff

Don't do anything different on inspection day - follow your usual routine (children have a habit of mentioning anything different).

Give the inspector your paperwork and carry on as you usually would with the children.

If you know the inspector's name you could try looking for any inspection reports they have written (either by googling their name or trawling through Ofsted's website) to see what they are picking up on.

Good luck

I am too expecting the call from OFSTED and are worrying so much.

All my paperwork is in place (i think), I just need to complete my SEF (I have started) and I need to have a good go through my first aid box.

I had my first inspection a couple of weeks ago. Don't panic - easy to say I know. As others have said, make sure you've got your policies and procedures in place and have all your parental permissions signed, get your risk assessments done and make sure they're dated and signed and marked for next review date. Make sure you've got any training certificates ready to show the inspector and if you haven't done any further training, have a look and see what you can do in the future so you can say that you're looking at your future development for yourself and benefit to your setting. I didn't have my SEF done either because I had only just got a mindee a month before - she said it wasn't a problem, as long as you've looked at the form and read the things they ask you to fill in and can talk about what you will do then she was very happy with that. I mentioned to her that I had booked to go on a SEF course with NCMA which I had to cancel as I attended a Safeguarding course on the same day which was another reason I had left it a little longer. Be yourself and just go about your normal business and daily routine, you'll be fine. The other thing I did say to her was about the fire drill - I said I wasnt planning a drill but showed her the escape plan part in my portfolio first - not sure that really made a difference but all helps. Good luck!!!
