You do not have to have a parent's notice board (I don't) but you do need to display your certificate of registration and the Ofsted parent's poster . As you will only have one set of parents I would not worry about this yet, when you have quite a few parents coming you may consider it then.
what is a permission of medical advice/ treatment form
You must obtain parental permssion to seek medical treatment and advice - there is a sample on NCMA's website or try Bromley Childminding Association's website
what is ICO?
This is the body you may need to register with if you are storing any information about children on your computer but also if you use a digital camera. ICO stands for Independent Commissioners Office and the link to their website ishttp://www.ico.gov.uk/
What do i need in a prtoflio so far i have my policies and procedures and first aid certificate?
Your portfolio is built up over a period of time and what you quote above is fine. As you go along you can add certificates from further training and any other evidence to show how you are meeting the welfard requirement eg copies of menus, samples of your contracts, permission forms, etc, you can put photos in
do i need to do weekly planning or monthly and what is needed in it and how much detail?
To begin with keep in simple when a child starts you and the parents need to identify what stage of development the child is at and then you need to identify what the next steps will be and how you are going to provide activites to meet them. Your planning may also include regular outings and activities you may do.
Sorry to be a pain i thought i was doing ok but know im feeling a little scared and feel like im not so organised.!:(
Don't worry too much at this stage you need to get to know the child first before you start plannning
thanks for your time

Good luck and remember to keep coming back to the forum for advice as you go along

I assumed you had already done your ICP when replying to your first post. I am sure that your course will be a big help and you will of course get the opportunity to talk to others on the course and there is nothing as good as peer support (other than peer support from the forum of course:) There is alot of paperwork involved with childminding but it doesn't have to be done overnight it is something that builds up over time, start simple with your planning and then build on it with help from here and your course. When your first child starts just make sure you have your information forms, contract and permission forms in place and then get to know the child, concentrate on one thing at a time and please relax and enjoy

My childminding practise course was of little help to me. I passed course, but felt like I came away knowing not enough. If I could offer advice it would be contact your local authority Childminding Support Officer and she will visit you in your home as often as you need. Mine is fantastic

Hi I am sure all the advice you have been given is going to serve you wonderfully but I just wanted to add that before you know it you will feel like you have been doing this forever and will have more understanding of what you need to have woud like to have and (in my case) wish you could have.
Very good luck with everything Helen D

Hi
Had to smile when I read your post.
I registered in July and had my first mindee in September and have had 4 start in the last month.
It's all been really daunting and there have been times felt v.alone so it's nice to know the questions I have are not silly and someone else finding it a steep learning curve too.
Thanks
