We all wear reflective jackets when on the school run, all the childminders in our area do this.
We even put them on the toddlers in the buggys so they get used to wearing them.

We made a huge poster with everyone involved (ages 2-10). We talked about hazards we found on the way to school and found pictures at home and stuck them to the poster - then the older ones wrote the hazards underneath. (Although when the 4 year old rightly decided that dog poo was a hazard we couldnt have a pic of this  ) This made them aware of why they needed to be safe on the roads. We also had photographs taken with the very kind lollipop lady then hubby made a zebra crossing and they acted out crossing the road in role play - actually this was one of the things they chose to do during my inspection which earned brownie points. :D
