Hi all,
I have a pond to fence around, does anyone know what ofsted suggest in doing this, as brainstorming at the moment.
expandable plastic style trellis made into a fence with supports, proper wood slats, wire mesh??? if anyone has had to fence of their pond, what did you use and how high did you make it.????
Thanks

sounds like a funny question but is your pond square, round of shaped ?
my pond is at the top end of the garden and this whole area is fenced off by a metal railings type fence with a padlocked gate, the children love it when I take them up there to feed the fish.

round in the corner - so can fence it off no problem, I'm not going to get one of those grids that you put over the pond, so really want to fence it off.
Thanks for replying.

ok, have decided on that stiff wire pvc coated green stuff, that comes on a roll - nearly a meter high. should be fine.

Fence around pond, has now been done. Thanks to my dad for putting it up, and my 2 friends for donating the material. Have used the type of wire you see around fields to keep the cows from escaping (don't worry - no barbed wire). it looks fab, and the lavender can grow through it too. Wish I could put a picture on here. but not sure how your attachment thing works.
so now that is one more thing of my check list.
YAH!!!!!!

I put a fence like that up around my pond and Ofsted said I still had to put a cover over the top of the pond, and finer mesh wire around the fence so the children wouldn't be able to climb up it. This was 12 years ago though, and there had recently been a few child deaths caused by drowning in garden ponds so maybe they were being extra cautious then.
