Hi, I have just had a new boiler fitted. Our old one was boxed in with a cupboard my husband made on the advice of my quality improvement officer. Our new boiler is much smarter and tidier than the old one and it seems a shame to cover it up. Does it have to be boxed in? Does anyone else have a boiler not boxed in? It is in the kitchen btw

Ours isn't. It's in the utility room. It's never been flagged as a problem, but my risk assessment states that no mindees are in kitchen/utility room unsupervised anyway. I have a stairgate up and they only go in to eat or access garden, that was mainly because I didn't want cupboard and drawer locks. ;)

I'm not entirely sure of the reason, she said that children should not be able to get to the controls. A child would have to be about 8 or 9 to be able to reach I reckon and by that age surely they wouldn't touch it anyway

My boiler isn't boxed in either - it is on the wall so out of reach of little ones, never been mentioned at inspection
