Hi all,
just paid for my registration, and have just received the CRB paperwork to fill in.
so I suppose when that's gone off to be checked - I will get the first inspection.
Only since this has taken a while to get off the ground, I've forgotten what it is I need to do to get ready for this first ever inspection.
I've been going through what I thought were the threads linked with these subjects and not really finding anything, so my head is really starting to hurt, as been looking for over 2 days.
The set up is ready. just a few tweaks here & there, (in the middle of buidling a fence around my pond, and front garden is all that is left, books, toys, games, gates, plug covers all in place) but what really is worrying me is, what paperwork do I need to get done. With the EYFS also, I haven' t got round to reading the statutory framework for the EYFS & practice guidence for the EYFS books, but I did the fast track childminding course back in feb, so will go over the paperwork I have done. Also, does anyone know if you are supposed to get a certificate when you do this course with the NCMA. As all we got were a "record of course attendance". I presume that is all that was needed, we really didn't get much help with the business side of the course, so most of us are kind of stumped as in what we are supposed to do. and I really want to get this all done and finished with.
Please help.

I cant really help with ur queries but wanted to ask u, did the ncma arrange ur childminding course? did u have to pay for it and how long did it take? did u try and arrange a course through ur local council first?

Hi,
I spoke to the job centre first, as I'm on benefit and was told to ring the NCMA and went from there. I got this course for free as I'm on benefit.
I'm not sure how much it costs, but I did have to pay for the paedriatic first aid course.
Sorry couldn't be much help.

Ok - only 2 more safety gates to get, a fence to go up around pond. majpr tidy-up inside and outside, then thats the pysical and risk assesment work done.
next will be getting my head around paperwork for ofted inspector's visit. CRB and registration fee gone and paid. so now just waiting for first ever visit date to check everything over.
BUT - like I said paperwork, what do I need. And mental brain work for answering questions.
Oh to be able to put a picture on here of all the work that has been done in changing the room from a garage, it looks beautiful. my 10year old loves it too, as technically it has now become her playroom too, and I have my karaoke machine in their. always say their is fun in learning. singing and reading the words off the screen, with making loud noises, great fun. also all the other stuff in their too. I'm SSSOOOOOOO lookinging forward to getting started. xxxx
so - if anyone can help on what I need to get my head round. apart from the wallpaper and painting that I've done. hehehe.
Thanks BIG BIG BIG GI-NORMAS BIG HUGS to anyone that can help out on this. Thank you

Hi Tanya. On the paperwork side of things you don't have to have everything finished for the prospects inspection. Their main aim is to ensure that you understand the EYFS and to check that your home is safe and secure and ready for children. I asked the inspector when she rang with my inspection date and she said it would be a basic chat about the EYFS and if anything in the home needs adding eg a stair gate or cupboard locks then you will be issued with an action letter.
Once you have completed the actions you contact her and she reports everything to OFSTED. Once OFSTED receives the report your reg certificate will be with you within a week sent recorded delivery.
I've also got my policies and procedures printed and ready for her to look at as my inspection is on Tuesday.
Good luck with it all xx

Hi,
thank you for that info, I'll have to go through my notes again for EYFS, as it was febuary that I did my course, so need to freshen up on it. do you suggest I read the whole book and go through my notes.
on the safety side, I have just to get another 3 stair gates, and those little extra bits, eg plug covers, door banger stoppers, I just have to fit the oven and fridge stoppers. and fit the fence around my pond, then I think I'm all done, (I hope)..
Also would you know that, when the register fee & CRB check has been done, does this mean that OFSTED has accepted you as a childminder, or with the inspection they - they then decide if you can be a childminder or not??

Thank you
Tanya
