Just thought I would share a few pointers from my inspection.
Overall, It felt very relaxed. I had read so many reports on here where they looked in the fridge, raided peoples houses, made them feel uncomfortable etc..But I can honestly say she was unobtrusive and worked around me and the children. Organisation was definatley the Key to the inspection.
I spent all weekend organizing my house, toys, resources etc.. cleaned from top to bottom and double and triple checked paperwork, ensuring that every piece of paperwork was signed and all in place. I had 3 messy/creative activities as back up ready to go (in boxes under the stairs) but I never needed them.
On arrival:
I checked Her ID, invited her in, explained Fire procedure and the children introduced themselves. We made some easter baskets and then the rest of the time was freeplay with a story and outdoor garden play. A really easy going day, just following the children's play.
She did asks lots of questions and went through everything with a fine toothcomb. She linked RA's with pictures in their LJ's to check permissions etc... and focused questions about individual children, their interests and wanted to verbally know how I was planning next steps. She spent lots of time looking thorugh policies and procedures and with regards to safeguarding, she verbally checked everything I had in my policies.
I cannot say there was a particular focus, EVERYTHING seemed to be covered and questioned.
Not sure how much help that is for anyone as its a bit vague.
Other people have said before, If your relaxed, the children relax and then just get on and have a normal fun play day.
From my experience, I would say:
Know your children, practice policies and procedures inside out and be confident about your working practice
