Hoping somebody can help me :) I am due my first Ofsted inpection one day this week and was searching online to see what will happen in my situation, I am due to be minding every day this week, only for the minded child I am due to have tomorrow to be off sick, eek. Firstly how will this affect my grades? Is it going to go against me as I will only have my own children with me if she arrives tomorrow, she won't be able to see my interractions with a minded child. Im not too worried about the inpsection as such, I feel prepared contract, policy and all the neccessary things, But only two weeks ago I started planning and recording activities in the hope that by the time my inspection came round I would be able to evidence my knowledge of the EYFS as I am qualified and love the planning and activities side of things. I just wasn't xpecting it to be this quick as I only started minding in January and was told at my Pre-reg visit to expect my first inspection roughly 7 months after I started taking children, does anybody know if this is true? I wouldn't want to get marked down for not having enough evidence or paperwork because of an early inspection. Sorry this is a litle long winded, I do tend to waffle  many thanks x

Your first graded inspection usually happens within 6 months of you being registered (not 6 months from when you get your first mindee).
If you don't have any minded children tomorrow I would phone Ofsted and let them know so they can contact the inspector or if you have other mindees you could "borrow" one of them for the morning - the inspector will not be interested in seeing you with your own children.
Miffy xx

Thank you for the reply, I took your advice and phoned another Mum and am borrowing her child (who I do mind on other days) I was thanking her over and over again, til she reminded me I was offering to have her child for the day for free :) So fingers crossed its tomorrow, I really hate waiting around and being stuck in the house, she said that If she is not here by midday then I can assume she's not coming and go on out, but all the children i mind for sleep in the afternoon. Im hoping she doesn't leave it til Friday because got a big day out planned, not sure if they work bank holidays or not, but I would assume not so hoping we can still go. The children will just punish me all day by being very stroppy if I have to cancel their trip for an inspection! x
