My friend wants to register on the child care part only, her own children are 9 and 12 and she has no intention of caring for younger children. She had her pre reg visit from the development worker who told her it is best to register in the EY part too. Now I thought this was making more work for her self as she is then guaranteed an inspection and would be expected to know all about the EYFS and how to implement it also she has no equipment to toys for this age range as she want schoolies only. What possible benefit would it be for her to register on a part she would never use?

I can't see any obvious benefit to register for early years if she doesn't want it.

However if she registers from age 5 she is still reg on the early years register and will be involved in delivering the Eyfs but she can then take children from full time entry into school and offer continuity of care - maybe that's what her DW was thinking?

Good luck to her! :D

Perhaps she thought it would save her money as you have to pay far more to be registered on the Childcare Register only.

Not sure the saving would out weight the extra work though
