welcome - don't panic!
the meeting should explain a lot - I have been CM for years and things have changed so I can't give advice on starting out procedure. Sure someone who is more recently registered will be along to help.

Don't worry about the pre-reg or all the paper work. I started with it all in September and was registered by February and starting with my first children on Monday.
The pre-reg is a brilliant opportunity just to tell you how every thing work and what to expect from childminding.
Yes there is a lot of paper work but there is so many websites and resources out there to help make it easier for you. As soon as you've done your training and have a better back ground on everything start to get everything ready. If you can get all your paperwork (policies, portfolio, risk assessments etc) done before your first child starts, have a good filing system and keep your booking up to date its not that bad.
I know childminders that have not kept it up to date and then panic when they are due for inspection and have for almost a year not even looked at their bookkeeping and because they are so busy now with childminding struggling to catch up.
This forum is great and you can find any information on here. It took me a few days to find my way and I still sometimes not sure were to find something on here but the more you visit it the more familiar you will get with it. You already starting to join the forum even before you are registered is probably a great start.
Good luck and don't be worried its all very straight forward and once you have been to the pre-reg you will see you have nothing to be worried about.
