Can anyone help me with this one?! My recent OfSTED report states that I have not informed parents of the requirements for registration on the voluntary or compulsory parts of the childcare register. I have questioned this and the inspector told me I should have given the factsheet 080161Requirements for the Childcare Register: childminders and home childcarers to my parents. I can't find anything that says I should have done this. I have challenged this and my dvelopment worker is fighting it for me. Has anyone come accross this before? I'm really upset about it. I did get a "good" but I don't want to give my report to my parents with this on as it states I have not met the requirements of the register because of this. Thanks x

Yes Childcare Register requirement CR9.3 states -

Childminders must make the following information available to parents:

- information about the registration system for the voluntary part of the Childcare Register

I have an information sheet I give to parents just saying that I am on 2 registers, one is the Early Years Register and 1 is the Childcare Register.

They are different and the info sheet points out the differences.

I can't say parents are in the slightest bit interested but it is a legal requirement so I am ticking a box.

Unfortunately since it's a legal requirement and you haven't given parents the information you are in breach of the requirements.

Some inspectors look for these little things to trip people up so it's always worth checking all the wording of everything before inspection.

However it's a really easy one to get right for next time! :D

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your reply. I'm so gutted! None of the minders I've spoken to have this form available for parents. The reg certificate states I am on the 2 registers and my development worker thinks this along with policies, procedures and R/A's is enough. Probably won't get anywhere though

Will put this stupid form in my parents folder right now but you're right, they won't want to read it.
xx

It is like everything else, unless you read every word it is so easy to miss and there is so much information we have to take in :(

The Factsheet is in the free downloads if anyone wants a copy:

I condense it into a one page information sheet and it's there in my file for them to read and have a copy if they want one.

It also gets emailed along with statutory policies and procedures when contracts are signed :D

Aw hun, it's horrible isn't it! :(

My inspection report says I don't meet the requirements either, all for not having my name on my RAs. I was really upset by it too so completely understand how you feel.

I think it's the inconsistency of inspectors that is really annoying. I know a fair few minders who when I told them didn't have their name on their RAs and didn't get any comment when they were inspected. My inspector didn't ask if I gave this info that you got pulled up on to my parents! Have read inspection reports that actually pick up on things that could put children in danger, eg low level glass not safe, cleaning products within childrens reach, knives accessible to children and lots more but no actions for these minders just recommendations!!!
