There have been lots of childminders in my area who have recently had inspections, it seems that ofsted have moved into a hotel in the centre of town and are catching up on all the overdue inspections. Some of the childminders have been quite open about the fact that they dont do the EYFS because either they dont understand it or they dont agree with it. These minders have come out of their inspections with satisfactory and some of them have even got a good. I really dont understand how that works when other minders who i know who are doing all they should and have come out with the same grade!! I feel really disheartened to think im working so hard with learning journals, planning, risk assessments etc and people who are doing hardly anything are not coming out with inadequate and some are even getting good, the inspectors are so inconsistent and need to all start sticking to same criteria when judging us. Rant over.......... i just feel really annoyed that some people have got away with doing practically nothing!!! :)

If they are not doing/following the EYFS I dont see how they can get graded satisfactory at all:angry: there is lots of hard working childminders on here Im sure following the EYFS and get satisfactory. I got a good and it meant lots of boring EYFS paperwork etc.So it wouldnt be fair to grade those that are not/wont follow the EYFS at all would it?

I was inspected today and the eyfs is a guidance and the paper work is what you make of it you can do as much or as little as you like along as it shows the children are happy and safe
I was worried about my planning as I hate it , I prefer to do activities at the spur of the moment and she said thats fine you don't have to do written plans at all , but she did like all my photographic evidence of my activities , for planning really all she wanted to see was the next steps for each child in their lj's
I got a good today which was amazing considering there was no kids present

Have never heard of Ofsted moving into a hotel and doing a blitz. Sad that you are seeing so much inconsistency though
